USB add-on upgrades Mac wifi without internal upgrades 11:06AM, Monday 12th March 2007
QuickerTek has announced Quicky Jr, which undercuts the price of its own Quicky USB wireless booster by 50%, extending the wifi speed and range of any Mac with built-in wireless networking. It is compatible with the MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac, Power Mac, PowerBook and Mac mini.

Quicky Jr uses a USB port both for connectivity and its power, bypassing the need to dismantle the Mac to install it. It requires no drivers, and delivers wifi speeds of up to 54Mbits/sec, equivalent to an 802.11g network connection.

It is shipped with two antennas, so can be tailored to particular operating environments. The 2dBi antenna maximises the wireless signal's area of coverage, while the 5dBi antenna extends on a vertical plain to travel up and down through floors.
