Apple has scheduled more than 100 Worldwide Developers Conference sessions that will focus on the technologies in Leopard, the next major upgrade of Mac OS X.

The code-based sessions will demonstrate key elements of the OS, including Core Animation effects for application interfaces, iChat Theater for sharing applications over the Internet, and QuickLook system wide previews.

Other sessions will look at how developers can can integrate Leopard technologies such as the new Scripting Bridge, Identity Services, Sync Services, iCal, iChat, Address Book, WebKit and Spotlight searching to add new capabilities to applications.

and personal access to the engineers behind them, WWDC will be a critical stop for any developer on the road to a killer Leopard application,' Apple said.

When Apple CEO Steve Jobs gave his 'sneak preview' of Leopard technologies and applications last year, he said that the OS would be released in the spring, Since then references to the software have been conspicuous by their absence - Jobs made not one mention during his January keynote - leading at least one commentator to venture that by spring Apple meant June, which would coincide with WWDC.

Leopard Innovations is one of six 'technology tracks' at the conference, alongside a Mac OS X Essentials track for developers new to the platform, Developer Tools, and Information Technologies, which looks at integrating Leopard with OS X Server. The remaining tracks will cover advanced audio, video, imaging and graphics and the development of rich-media for the desktop, devices and the web.

WWDC takes place in San Francisco from 11 to 15 June 2007. For more information go to developer.apple.com/wwdc.
