SyncTogether offers Mac syncing without .Mac 10:33AM, Thursday 1st February 2007
Syncing software specialist Mark/Space has released a new tool for synchronising data between Macs without having to use Apple's .Mac service.

SyncTogether lets you synchronise data such as bookmarks, contacts, calendars, notes and Mail account settings between computers on a local network using Apple's Bonjour technology or over the Internet. Password protection and the use of SSl ensure that data is securely shared.

The software can be triggered automatically or manually and customised so that only specific data, contact groups or calendars for example, are synced.

It can also be used as

a workgroup calendar server, something that normally requires dedicated software and a server, enabling project schedules, task lists and notes to be shared among team members using Apple's iCal application. SyncTogether supports up to three users with a single $49.95 (£25.50) licence and each additional license adds three more users, so it's inexpensive to cover your entire team. Because SyncTogether shares information from Mac OS X's built-in applications, there's nothing new to learn.

SyncTogether is compatible with any software that employs OS X's Sync Services technology, including Apple Address Book, iCal, Mail and Safari; Bare Bones Yojimbo organiser; Chronos SOHO Contacts and Calendar; Llamagraphics LifeBalance; Microsoft Entourage 2004; and Panic Transmit FTP client. New applications that support Sync Services are automatically supported by the application.

SyncTogether is available from markspace.com/synctogether.php.
