Although Leopard's Mail application has basic RSS features, surprisingly the iPhone has no comparable feature. However, there's an excellent web-based solution from NewsGator, which ties into its superb NetNewsWire desktop RSS reader. Even better, it's now free.

Download NetNewsWire from the NewsGator website and install it on your Mac then set up your RSS feeds and set it to sync, using NewsGator. Note that you'll need to register for a free account.

Once everything's up and running on the desktop side, fire up the mobile reader on your iPhone and log into your NewsGator account.

You'll see the same feeds as on your desktop but presented in a more iPhone-friendly fashion. And don't worry - you're spared having to wade through swathes of entries that have already been read in NetNewsWire. The synchronisation preference allows the mobile reader to hide them, which very conveniently leaves just the latest news.
