   1 Firewire 800 gives the fastest transfer speeds, but is restricted to the high-end Macs; Firewire 400, the universal Mac connection, is usually faster tahn USB 2, which is best suited to swapping data with PCs.
   2 The first-generation SATA connection has data transfer speeds of up to 150MB/sec, and drives can be hot-swapped
   3 ATA is still the most common internal connection for modern hard disks
   4 You can use Raid in Disk Utility to combine disks for speed or security benefits
