Mac Mini Media Centre

One function of a media centre that would seem to be key is its ability to play games. However, this is one thing the Mac mini is definitely not suited to. Vip Patel of Aspyr, the biggest games publisher on the Mac, had this to say about the Intel mini: 'The integrated graphics with shared VRAM is likely to cause performance problems with games. Even if the integrated graphics were as fast as the Radeon 9200 in the previous mini (which PC benchmarks seem to say isn't the case), the shared memory is going to give games a penalty since it will be losing 80MB of the 512MB in a standard configuration. We're waiting to get our hands on a couple of Intel Mac minis so we can do some real-world benchmarking, but early indications are that this will not be a Mac you'll want to play some of the more demanding games on.'
