Court rules Apple bloggers must reveal sources 10:05AM, Friday 4th March 2005
Apple has won the first leg of its legal tussle with three websites over the disclosure of confidential company information.

Judge James Kleinberg of the state court in San Jose, California ruled that PowerPage, AppleInsider and Think Secret must disclose where they got information concerning future Apple product releases.

'We're disappointed that the tentative ruling was a denial,'said Kurt Opsahl, a lawyer for the Electronic Frontier Foundation, which is backing the websites. He said that they would appeal.

The three sites carried news of a product codenamed Asteroid or Q97, believed to be a FireWire audio interface for GarageBand. No such product has yet been announced by Apple.
