LabsMini-Roundup: P2P file sharing clients
BitTorrent OSX is the best-known Macintosh BitTorrent client. This is, however, more likely to be because it's well named for people searching for a 'BitTorrent client for Mac OS X' than because of an impressive set of features. It isn't particularly stable, and it often won't find as many peers as other clients can. As a result, it's likely to download files more slowly. It also slows down in general when it has multiple concurrent torrent downloads. On the upside, it's relatively simple to use, which is no bad thing, as BitTorrent use can be a little opaque for newcomers. The interface is clean and Mac-like, which isn't something to take for granted in this field. Ultimately, though, its performance lets it down. Although it's written by the originator of the BitTorrent concept, it's so basic and uninspiring that we have to say don't bother. Sponsored Links
