There are three LiveJournal accounts available: a standard, free account; a sponsored account, where you host adverts to pay for your space; and a paid-for account. The free account gives you some basic editing functionality and a simple interface for making entries. Although LiveJournal is in essence the same as Blogger, the control panel is less clear. The basic template is also a bit bland and you couldn't really just start making entries and leave it with the basic design: it needs some work before it really looks good. That said, LiveJournal has a strong sense of community, which means you can quickly build up a network of friends.
