At £113, the Coolpix 2200 is an affordable digital camera. It may only sport a 2megapixel CCD, but it packs a 3x optical zoom. Ease of use is a highlight, but image quality sadly isn't. We like the blur warning once you've taken an out-of-focus shot, but the noticeable barrel distortion ruined some images.

Colours weren't as muted as usual from Nikon and shots were generally sharp. Macro ability was second best and indoor quality was better than expected with good flash performance. Movies are silent though. With alkaline AAs, you never need run out of power and the 1.6in LCD is good. But the chunky size and average quality mean we'd still recommend stretching the extra £17 to the tiny Casio.
