PC PRO EXCELLENCE AWARDS 2011
Who provides Britain's best broadband, laptops, printers, digital cameras, software and more? We reveal the reader-voted winners of the PC Pro Excellence Awards 2011. With more than 11,000 readers voting in 19 different categories, all decided by your votes alone, the PC Pro Excellence Awards may have a new name, but they remain the UK's most comprehensive IT survey.
From broadband ISPs to laptops, digital cameras to printers, we've scrupulously collected and analysed your in-depth feedback on the service and support you received. Not only have we published your ratings for each of the companies involved this year presented in percentages to give you an even clearer picture of how well each company, performed but we've also combed through and published some of your comments on the companies involved.
How the awards are decided
The PC Pro Excellence Awards are the culmination of months of in-depth feedback from our thousands of magazine and website readers. With 19 different categories and at least five different questions in each, we compile a highly detailed picture of the UK's tech buying habits.
We ask our readers to rate each product on a number of different factors, such as performance, reliability and value for money. We convert those answers to numeric values: ten for very satisfied, eight for satisfied, five for neither satisfied or dissatisfied, two for dissatisfied and no points at all for very dissatisfied customers. By dividing the cumulative score by the number of votes, we obtain a percentage score for each of the voting categories, and an overall percentage score.
Only companies that register a statistically significant number of votes are included in the awards tables. We also have four special Product of the Year Awards. For these we ask our readers, editorial staff and the companies themselves to nominate products for the shortlist for these four awards, with the winners being decided by readers' votes alone. Only products that have appeared on the PC Pro A-List in 2011 are considered for the A-List award.
