What is RSS?

RSS news feed readers

RSS may have several definitions - 'really simple syndication', 'rich site summary' or 'RDF Site Summary' - but it does one simple job. It provides a stream of text-based information, such as news headlines and links to the corresponding report on a website, to an RSS news feed reader.
This is a small application that reads the feeds from as many sites as you specify and presents them all as a simple list in a single window. It allows you to keep up-to-date with the news as it happens.
There are three RSS feeds available on this site: News, Reviews and Features. To access them: right-click (Windows) or control-click (Mac) the orange Get RSS button on the respective page, copy the link/URL and and enter it into your chosen RSS reader.

here are many readers for both Windows and Mac OS to choose from, some free and some not, but those listed below come recommended. Alternatively, the Firefox Web browser can display RSS headlines as bookmarks, using the new Live Bookmarks feature. Similarly the next version of Apple's Mac-only Safari browser, due early in 2005, will have built-in RSS support.
