How to use mobile broadband in businesss

Orange Business Everywhere Unlimited

Orange Business Everywhere Unlimited

Orange offers a straightforward Mobile Broadband service for consumers, with a £14.68 inc VAT monthly fee including 3GB of data usage and an 18-month contract. Compared to 3’s £10-a-month deal, that’s nothing special, but Orange does have the advantage of a more established 3G network.

Things get more complicated when it comes to its Business Everywhere plans. You have a choice of three different contract lengths – 12 months, 18 months and 24 months – with the first two costing £25 exc VAT per month and the latter one £17 a month.

In return, you receive 250 minutes monthly credit on Orange’s hotspot network and “unlimited” data usage – though “unlimited” here means 3GB per month, and that Orange may contact you to “request that you moderate your use” of the network. However, it won’t force you to pay more.

This isn’t true if you roam abroad, when you’ll be subject to a roaming fee of £3.50 per day in Europe and £5.50 per day in the rest of the world. If that sounds too much, consider Orange’s Business Everywhere Traveller deal, which costs £45 exc VAT per month and gives you a 15MB roaming allowance – providing you’re on an Orange partner network.

Wherever you are, though, don’t expect blistering speeds. In our tests, Orange’s peak rate was only 1.3Mbits/sec, and on average in London we achieved 650Kbits/sec. Outside of London, this dropped to around 320Kbits/sec, and also note that we didn’t find the service as reliable as Vodafone’s.
