Since Ivory sales are banned, I can see why they try and sell on eBay as they are lax re checking the legality of sales. eBay could and should face criminal charges on this. If they lose local directors here in the UK to charges of trafficking then they would clean up their act.

These Animal Rights/ Welfare people make me laugh.

Something which destroys the Enviroment it lives in and requires such huge quantities of slow growing fodder [trees] is a pain in the ass wether you call it an Elephant or a JCB driven by some idiot in SouthAmerica or Borneo.

What is the difference, ecologicaly, between these two things which achieve the same destruction of the forest around them?

I love animals and what I have written is sort of tongue in cheek but elephants can be bad for the planet too.

What endangers wildlife is any of us who have children.
Over-population by humans is the only thing endangering Wildlife and the planet.

Me I am for Iran and their atomic programme. I hpe they trigger a war that destroys the MiddleEast--rverywhere except Upton Park Football Ground to be honest.

WOW,Wolves and Bears on the British Isles gain.
Oh and they wouldnt be called British anymore.

Oh well cant have everything yer know!

PS Just thought-no more Jonathon Porrit . Smile
Bet some of his kids survive to endanger wildlife all over again. Sad

Nothing changes really. Crying or Very sad

Yes , I picked up the wrong tube and am now in Hospital having a tube of super-glue surgicaly removed from my right nostril.

Could that explain the construction of my rant?

Ebay should receive heavy fines for every post advertising Ivory on their site. These fines should be increased every time they are caught allowing the ads.

The poster of the ad caughd easily be traced because they have to give bank details to Ebay to pay their fees.

As for the rant from the "super glue fried brain", It's also illegal to sell body parts belonging to the most distructive creature that ever inhabited this planet...............MAN!!!!

How is man the most destructive creature that ever inhabited the planet, exactly? Those dinosaurs were a bit anti-social if you ask me...

Agreed but as they operate across borders the police, who do not have enough resources to deal with this, leave it to someone else.

Fines would be good but they should go to wildlife charities.

Well, I think you can measure destructiveness in terms of destruction. Besides it was man all along:

Well, that's easy: elephants evolved to live in Africa, JCBs didn't evolve to destroy Rainforests. One is the consequence of Natural Selection the other of unnatural greed.

I appreciate you were attempting humour, but in order to be totally tasteless and get away with it, you also have to be very funny.... Rolling Eyes

Actually they do not live solely on elephant dung but any dung that they find. Hippo dung is just as good as it is so wet it is easily moulded into dung balls.

Elephants may alter their local environment by knocking down trees. In fact the elephants helped create the savannahs of Africa which was essential to human develpment. Without them we would still be in trees and not walking upright.
