Paragon Drive Backup 8 does not install on my PC with XP SP2! It comes up with the error:

"The program cannot be started because you have tried to install it under a server version of Windows ..."

Paragon have confirmed that this is a bug in the product. They said the bug has been fixed "in ful [sic] version of the software" and "Unfortunately, the only thing I recommend you [sic] is to purchase full version [sic]"

Was this just a cynical attempt to get PC Pro readers to buy their software? Evil or Very Mad

Hi.

The product has been tested in-house on Windows XP Service Pack 2 and seems to be working OK. Can you tell me if you manage to get it to install at all, or does the message come up when you launch the application via the Start menu shortucut?

Also can you give me your system specifications, including processor type and speed, amount of RAM installed, version of Windows, etc. You can find this information by right-clicking the My Computer icon (situated either on the Desktop or on the Start menu) and choosing the Properties option, or pressing the Win+Pause/Break combination.

Cecil_EPU

It installs but it does not run. It comes up with the error mentioned.

I emailed (your colleague?) Luke Walker a screen shot of my system details. It is XP SP2, 2.6Ghz P4, 1gb Ram.

Thanks

As a point of interest..
I have managed to install the program on my XP Home, SP2 PC.

Wont back up the specific disc on which the program is installed ("disc in use error" to paraphrase).

But so far as this thread is concerned.. all ok.

Hi
Did you manage to get anywhere with this? I have the same issue though I do run 180day trial versions of server software in VM's so I suspect it is actually telling me the truth Smile

It is a shame that I'm unable to backup any of my system because of this :S
Back to NTBackup then ....
