Last night I ordered my window 7 upgrade

went to this web site as listed on my paper I was given when I brought window vista:

https://windows7upgradeoption.com/

entered in the code and a few other details

I throught it be a down load but no they (Microsoft) sending me a DVD via the post - the shipping date they given me is today but here in the UK we might have a mail strike so it might get delayed in getting to me - also it has cost me nothing - so why does some PC builders charging 30 pounds for the upgrade!!!!

As it says on the web page

So they charge, mainly because they can

Although, to be fair, M$ have also placed an extra charge for the manufacturer to take part in the upgrade program, it seems. Other's will be charging for the extra drivers (if any) needed for Windows 7, the cost of postage and the general administration of the program at their end
Your upgrade charge may have been included in the price you paid for your computer

I agree with the sentiment, though - I'd be somewhat annoyed at the thought of having to pay for something advertised as free

My Windows 7 Upgrade option DVD arrived today, well within the delivery span my Email stated. Clean install done, and after a few problems getting my wireless card to work its up and running. Just a few more things to re-install.

Hate me as well then. Mr. Green

My DVD arrived this morning and the PC is running it now. I've got a shed-load of software to install but I'm on my way. Smile

I ordered my upgrade from Dell on 30/10/09 - the upgrade is totally free but I have to pay tax and handling of ...... £15.00

Fine - I thought that reasonable if a little high for something that could be made downloadable for free. Surely at £15 it will be on my doorstep within a few days.

Until - I check the status 6 days on to find the estimated shipping date is now 20/11/09

Come on now - this is taking the ****

I have done a full install - not an upgrade

so loading stuff back on the computer now

this was because I had too many crashes and BSOD - not sure why - may be overclocked my RAM too much?
