Lifetime warranty on OCZ memory

Postby Jerrymire » Mon Feb 13, 2012 9:32 pm

The truth dawns. OCZ are stopping production of memory modules? They are only selling 'End Of Life' units. The latest mail I received states "as we don't produce Ram's anymore, we can only offer you the actual market value of it"

So I guess its goodnight and thanks for the memory!

I AM STILL UPSET, BUT: their site now clearly says that only gold series carries a limited lifetime warranty. Me still living in the past believed that it was still all their memory products that they had faith in, obvoiously times change.
Ho Hum, I shall look elsewhere for my memory in future, I refuse to pay a premium for something with a very limited warranty attached, crucial looks a good bet!

I should like to publish here an email I received today from OCZ regarding an RMA claim I sent yesterday regarding a previous RMA which was fulfilled by OCZ with DDR ram that proved to be faulty.
PLEASE NOTE THE INFERENCE IS THAT OCZ NO LONGER HONOUR THEIR LIFETIME WARRANTY! (I have highlighted this in red).

Thanks in advance.

Don't know what modules they are, but might this be due to them no longer having any in stock and not getting any more?

Hello.

I also have had a clash with OCZ's Limited Lifetime Warranty.

The OCZ representative offered the refund price of a 2133MHz 9-9-9-24 module (around 150 EUR)

I bought an item for 358 EUR which was in a review : 389 USD/EUR with 7-8-7-20 @ 2000 MHz - http://www.guru3d.com/article/ocz-blade ... ry-review/
I then also linked a similar item to what he offered in a review by the same site : 169 USD/EUR with 9-9-9-24 @ 2000 MHz - http://www.guru3d.com/article/gskill-dd ... ry-review/

notice the 200EUR price difference, even back in 2009, now 3 years after, Im offered the price of modules, running 2133MHz at CAS Latency 9-9-9-24.

I also send him a high resolution scan of the original receipt.

He then tells me, that he can go no higher than EUR 150, regardless of what I paid, which is very unsatisfactory.

Besides that I lived for a very long time with system instability, and then suddenly the loss of 2GB going from 6GB to 4GB (thought it was the motherboard at first, but later tested the ram in another machine to see, that it was the ram afterall.

Even though RAM prices have gone significantly down, they dont even provide a price that is equivalent or better than the item bought.

I am wondering if anyone in the know, knows if a company can be held liable for such guarantees, (and if unable to replace with similar or better item, refunds the FULL amount regardless, if ram prices have fallen, (when they cannot successfully locate modules that perform equal or better)..

Thank you in advance.

Best regards : Cyberstorm

The only route you can take under UK consumer law is with the trader/supplier not the manufacturer and there is no entitlement to a full refund after 3 years use unfortunately.
Try Citizens Advice consumer service on 08454 04 05 06 for further information.

OCZ are not worth dealing with, I have been suffering the same issues lately myself.

Awful company and shoddy products.
