So you regularly have to hide the fact that you own Apple products because doing so is likely to get you arrested or beaten to a pulp for no good reason at all? Where on Earth do you live?

I think in terms of desirabilty at the very least nothing Dell can make will ever be at good as an Apple product, but I don't think the Apple Tablet will have the same level of success as the iPhone- when people get things cheap on contracts it softens the blow, but people will probably be more nervous about spending £300+ on what will probably not even be Mac branded.
Rig: AMD Phenom II X3 720 @3.01ghz, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 1TB 7,200rpm Samsung Spinpoint F1, Windows 7 RC.

Most people probably don't realise that the iphone is gonna cost them around £600+, and its nearly totally useless outside a decent 3g signal area.
Indeed, the iphone's piece of cleverness was to lock telecoms providers into providing 24/7 internet access for "free" as part of the contract. This makes the iphone moderately useful, without it (or if, as I do you live in the sticks) its just another expensive bit of shiny plastic.

The much hyped Apple tablet wil need a similar USP to take people's attention away from the ferocious cost of such a gadget....

Re: Is Dell set to deliver a tablet?

I think we will start seeing alot of touch screen tablets towards the end of year and next year I would bet all the Major manufactures will have one.

I've installed Windows 7 on my Touchsmart Laptop/Tablet jobbie and it really brings it alive. The multitouch build into Windows 7 and the new touch pack is excellent.
