Re: Skype to take over business phones

A number of small to medium-size companies are leveraging Skype in limited capacity. But in most cases, it’s not a core service that the enterprise relies on

For small, budget-minded companies, using Skype some of the time may be a risk worth taking. “Even if it is a little glitchy or static-y, on good Skype calls, voice quality is in fact better than on a regular phone call because Skype uses wide-band technology that sends twice as much audio information as the PSTN or most VoIP services. Voices sound fuller, less tinny, more realistic.
The far greater concern is security. It’s not so much the risk that Skype conversations could be intercepted and proprietary information divulged. It’s more the threat that the IM client could infect a company network with malware.

skype to skype calls are the cleanest most unbelievably clear connection I've ever heard on a phone connection (I can hear their breathing, dogs, kids, etc!). Its isn't as good on a Skype to phone connection, but it is still very good. I also use Skype in my business and found a great service for my website for instant chat. It connects to my skype account and I get a notice when visitors want to chat off my website.

For a smallish organization working in a virtual office environment, how can you not use it? Its by far the cheapest solution available.

I live abroad and I've never used Skype for my business calls, but now that I see this article, I think it makes some sense
It is not only Skype. All VoIP techs are built for cost-reduction. That's why.
Its absolutely right, but skype marketing policy is advance.
