Epilog: Creative prices a rip-off

Jon Honeyball [PC Pro]

Yesterday I had a phone call from a charming lady in Adobe support. Apparently, Adobe used to have one database for the shops, but has recently split it between the countries. 'Split' as in 'kept it all in the US and started afresh everywhere else'. And yes, my Adobe ID and records are held in the USA store, which is useless to me because I cannot purchase through it. I was told I had to go to the UK store and create a new Adobe ID from scratch and use that. My purchasing history and records of my licensing? No, they cannot transfer this. And they cannot guarantee that it will all work if they decide how to merge the data back together again either, at some unknown point in the future.

So now I'm incensed. My records are locked in an e-shop that I can access but cannot purchase through. I have to discard my shopping history and licence trail and set up an account in the UK shop, with a new ID. And then, to top it off, pay £130 extra for the privilege. I will not upgrade. And I suggest you do not either until this company wakes up and realises it cannot treat its European customers this way.
