Memorex's 160GB Ultra TravelDrive is easy to hold thanks to its rubberised grips. The grey plastic side panels detach and can be replaced with the green or white panels included.
The TravelDrive's speeds in our large file tests were average for the portable hard disks. We were more disappointed with its small-file read speed, which was one of the slowest.
The included backup software supports scheduled and incremental backups, but it won't make versioned backups, which save multiple versions of the same file, making it easy to revert to a previous version. You can trigger a backup by pressing the small button next to the USB port, although you can't set the button to launch your own program.
The TravelDrive is the cheapest portable hard disk in the group, but Maxtor's similarly priced OneTouch 4 Mini is faster and is a better choice if you're on a tight budget.
