Product ReviewsMotherboards
We weren't sure whether to bother reviewing an example of the endangered species of Socket 423/RDRAM boards, but after seeing the GA-8TX we're glad we did. Using RDRAM makes all the difference, at least compared to standard PC133. In 3D tests the GA-8TX outperformed all the other boards on test, although the EP-8KHA came close. The real turn-off, though, is the price of RDRAM. Despite falling prices, 256Mb of RDRAM still costs four times as much as the equivalent amount of DDR RAM, if not more. If gaming or high-end graphics is your bag, however, it might just be worth it. Be aware Intel will soon discontinue Socket 423 chips, so future processor upgrades aren't really on the cards.
