It's not an objective issue, but the Sanyo's looks are about as impressive as its serial code name. The large bezel surrounding the screen dominates its appearance, and the general flavour is dull and utilitarian. Its speakers sound particularly weedy, and with the volume control buried in the OSD, they're not likely to see much use.

OSD's auto geometry worked well, but the automatic colour setup seemed highly dependent on the image displayed at the time. This is arguably a plus, as it tunes the display depending on context, but we were only really happy with the results after pressing auto-adjust on a test card image. From then on, image quality was above average, with vivid colours, a wide usable viewing angle and excellent contrast. However, the edges of the screen were a little darker than in the centre, and although focus was generally excellent, sharply contrasting vivid colours did cause some slight bleeding.

In games and DVD tests, performance was excellent, with a faster response than most. DVD playback was a little fuzzy, but image quality in games was the best of the group.

The Sanyo is the only screen on test that can be wall-mounted, but unless this is a prime concern, there are much better buys to be had.
