Verdict:
Contrary to popular belief, Britain does have the odd bit of picturesque countryside - in fact, Eye2Eye has found 10,000 such spots, and packaged them for agoraphobics the world over to enjoy.
Is your own photo album looking a bit slim? Then buy someone else's. Eye2Eye Britain is a collection of over 10,000 annotated photographs of places from all over the UK. Each photo is represented on a map of Britain by a yellow dot marking the place at which it was taken. Using a number of different tools, the software allows you to sort photos by topic. For example, if you're interested in the Roman remains from a certain area of

the UK, go to the Timeline, select 'Roman Britain', and all the Roman sites on the map will start to flash. When you click on each dot, a photo of the ruin or archeological site will pop up, complete with a caption telling you something about the place in the photo. If you don't fancy using the Timeline, you can take a themed tour of Britain, search on a particular word, or even kick back and enjoy a slideshow.
Much of the photography is truly stunning. If you've been holidaying abroad for the last few years, this is just the thing to remind you how many beautiful places there are in the UK. True to the claims, Eye2Eye Britain is also a fine educational tool, though it would have been better with a little more information on each photo.
Presentation is also less than ideal, with the use of bog-standard clip art on menu buttons. It's impossible to minimise the programme too, which may hamper studious use.
But despite these niggles, Eye2Eye Britain is a great idea, and a decent bit of software.
