After seeing the performance of three other GeForce 4 Ti4600-based cards in last month's Reviews, it's fair to say we had high hopes for this offering from Asus. In fact, it was all we could do to stop ourselves drooling all over it. The Asus took like a duck to water when installed in our test PC. You need a really stonking processor to get the best out of top-of-the-range cards like this - but the rewards are handsome. A nigh-on ridiculous score of 10323 in 3DMark 2001 reveals the brute 3D force that this card packs underneath its bonnet. Our Quake 3 Arena test told a similar story, with the Asus racking up 183.5 frames per second. With this sort of power you can be assured that even the newest, most demanding games will run smoothly for some time to come. There's only one hurdle that the Asus falters at, and that's value for money. At nearly £330 I'd expect the card to be made from solid gold and have dancing girls (or men, depending on your preference) included in the box as standard. In the months to come the price will inevitably drop, but until then the MSI G4Ti4400 is better value with its TV-in connection - and a price tag that's £100 lower. By Sasha Muller SPECIFICATIONS:
