LaCie debuts USB speakers 1:48PM, Thursday 4th September 2008
LaCie has released USB versions of its Neil Poulton-designed desktop speakers.

The bus-powered speakers with internal cable storage and carrying case are the USB equivalent of the original FireWire set introduced last year.

They are plug-and-play with on both a Mac or PC — no drivers required — and with an power adapter, purchased separately, can also be directly connected to a portable music player.

“The new USB Speakers provide universal flexibility to all USB-enabled computers without the need for additional power cables, electrical sockets, or batteries,” said Alexis Kobassian, LaCie Accessories Product Manager. “Also taking into account their rich sound and minimalist design, the USB Speakers can provide a new listening experience for those unable to enjoy LaCie’s FireWire Speakers.”

The LaCie USB Speakers are available now at the suggested retail price of £39, less than half the price of the FireWire set.
