Billed as a tool able to bestow a 'family-friendly internet' upon its users, one might expect CYBERsitter to be designed for ease-of-use - but not a bit of it. The interface is small, ugly, confused, confusing and inconsistent. If you're a parent who happens to be a computer whiz, then you'll feel right at home. Otherwise, you'll probably be stumped.

This is a shame, as it proved to be one of the more reliable filtering programs. The default blocking options prevent access to set lists of websites, like those known to contain adult or sexually-oriented material, and a tick in the appropriate checkbox is sufficient for the program to do its job. However, there's no way of knowing what's on any given list and while exclusions can be made, finding out if a site is blocked is down to trial and error.
