Buying a Webcam

Logitech QuickCam Cordless   [Computer Buyer]
COMPANY: Logitech PRICE: £115)(£135
RATING: ISSUE: 150  DATE: Sep 03

This mammoth webcam comes with a wireless base station, and requires no cables to the camera itself. You do, however, need a mains adapter for when you're using it on the desk. Quality over the wireless link suffers in comparison to the other Logitech camera, but the frame rate is just as good. The viewfinder means it'll double as a wireless movie camera, which is great fun. There are separate buttons on the camera for taking either video or snapshots, so you'll be able to fully control the camera when you are on the move. The same superb software that comes with the QuickCam for notebooks is included, adding to the value. Nevertheless, £115 is a lot of money to pay for something that's really a bit of a gimmick.

SPECIFICATIONS:
250,920-pixel (510x492) camera with 24-bit colour, microphone, 30fps frame rate, USB interface (wireless to camera), detachable stand, wall mount, MGI Videowave SE, MGI Photosuite SE and Logitech ImageStudio. Requires Pentium II 400, 64MB RAM, 200MB hard disk space and Windows 98 SE or later.
