TerraTec is better known for its sound cards, but the TerraCAM shows the company can turn out a decent webcam too. It's smaller than most and comes with a heavy swivel base and a clamp mount, so it'll remain steady in any location.

In our tests, we found it provided good colour images. Also, thanks to on-board compression, it delivered its high quality images at smooth frame rates. The still capture button was useful, though there are precious few other features to speak of.

TerraTec's lack of experience in making webcams reared its head when it came to the software bundle. Basic photo editing, surveillance and e-mailing are the sum total of its extra software features.

Image quality may be high, but with a similarly sparse software bundle to Creative's WebCam Pro, the TerraCAM looks overpriced.
