Verdict: Speed, features and simple installation make it a winner.

This ADSL router stood out immediately thanks to what looked like a radar antenna sprouting from it. It's a high-gain aerial designed to increase range and speed.

The WAG325N was one of the easiest routers to set up. A CD-bases setup wizard takes you through everything from plugging the router in to securing your network. For most people this is all

you'll need, but the web-based management is excellent if you want to change advanced settings.

Here you'll find great options such as Quality of Service (QoS) settings. These let you prioritise certain applications. For example, you can give Skype priority over other network traffic so that Internet phone calls won't get all scratchy when you're downloading a file at the same time. Keyword and web address filtering are both good to have, especially if you have children to keep safe.

Performance was excellent from our generic Centrino laptop; 15.16Mbit/sec at 25 metres proved that the high-gain antenna was doing its job. Switching to Linksys' own WPC300N-UK CardBus adaptor (around £47) gave even better results. 20.98Mbit/sec at 25 metres was stunning.

Linksys' WAG325N is easy to set up, offers great performance and comes at a relatively low price, making it our Best Buy router for users who want an ADSL modem built in.
