Verdict:
Excellent all-rounder at a remarkable price.
The A30 is one of the cheaper cameras in this group, but you wouldn't guess it. Optical image stabilisation is built in, although it's not quite as effective as rival systems. Face detection is included too, as is full manual exposure and focus; aperture priority is oddly absent. Performance is excellent, with fast auto-focus and just 1.3 seconds between shots. Continuous mode isn't so impressive, and the 150-shot battery life is disappointing. Image quality is up with the best, with flattering skin tones, good auto exposure and remarkably little noise in low light shots.
