Verdict:
Clever gimmick, but bulky and lacks universal applicability.
This is potentially a clever little product. The adapter doubles as a power supply for a router. If you want to connect your router to the rest of your network across the mains, buy this adapter and you can power the router and connect it to the network using the same device. Sadly, however, there's no such thing as a standard router power supply, so Netgear can only guarantee that it will work with some of its own routers. Even if another router has the same power connector (we tried a Buffalo router that did), if it doesn't run off the same voltage the adapter still won't work. And while this huge adapter may be 'space saving' in comparison to having two devices, it's the biggest adapter in this group. If you've already decided that you want a Netgear router, this is a nice extra; otherwise best avoided.
