LabsUninterruptible power supplies
Trust's 950VA UPS looks identical to the 600VA, but it's rated at 950VA and 480W, so can power a fairly demanding PC. Like the 600VA, however, it has a basic specification. There are two female IEC sockets, and two female-to-male IEC cables are supplied, so this unit can power one PC and its monitor. Surge protection is taken care of with a further IEC socket and an RJ-11 socket for your phone line. The 950VA lasted for 22 minutes under its own power when the test PC was at idle, which is impressive for such a cheap UPS. It was less impressive when the PC was under load, managing nine minutes and eight seconds of battery power. The UPS comes with PC power management software, but as there's no way to connect it to your PC the software is redundant. You'll have to be within earshot of the 950VA's loud beeping to know there's a problem and save your work manually. Sponsored Links
