Verdict:
Poor coverage and a lack of features mean the ZyXEL isn't at all the bargain it seems.
They might be different colours, but look closely at the ZyXEL and Trendnet and you'll soon start seeing similarities. In fact, there's little to differentiate the two for features, with the exception that the NBG-415 has a USB port for transferring security settings to computers via a USB flash drive. There's no ADSL modem built in, and just Fast Ethernet rather than gigabit network ports. You get the same Quality of Service technology as used in the D-Link, though.
Disappointingly, the ZyXEL performed poorly in our tests, failing to provide adequate coverage for a reliable connection at even 15 metres when used with the matching PC Card. Oddly, coverage was better using a standard 802.11g WiFi adapter, but overall, the ZyXEL represents poor value in this company.
