Just £146 is an amazingly low price for a 10-megapixel camera, especially considering that optical image stabilisation is built in. Manual exposure and shutter priority are available, but could be easier to adjust. Other options are easily accessible though, with programmable shortcuts for whatever features you use most often. Manual focus works well, thanks to the clear 2.5in screen and a temporary digital zoom during adjustment. Performance is disappointing at three seconds between shots, rising to four when the flash is used. Battery life is even worse at just 150 shots.

Video is recorded in DivX format, which produces smaller files than the other cameras' Motion JPEG format, but doesn't deliver better quality. In fact, videos looked smudged. Our test shots were detailed at the centre, but deteriorated towards the edges of pictures. Noise was reasonably low though, and colours were warm and accurate.
