However, it is Nikon's first foray into Wi-Fi enabled cameras that will excite photographers. The Coolpix P1 and P2 have built-in Wi-Fi LAN support which allows users to take advantage of two new functions: wireless transfer and wireless shooting.
The P1 and P2 have the capability to transfer images direct to a selected computer on command, without hooking up to a machine, or they can automatically send each image as soon as it is shot. The two cameras also transfer images wirelessly to PictBridge-compatible printers.

Features for both include a 3.5 zoom capability and powerful 126mm Zoom-Nikkor lens (35mm equivalent), Aperture-priority Auto Mode and 16 handy Scene Modes.
They also sport innovative new functions such as D-Lighting, for in-camera light correction, and Portrait (Face AF) that detects human faces in shot and then provides the appropriate focus.
A newly designed grip for more confident shooting and a large 2.5-inch LCD also help users to create professional pictures.
Nikon has been firing out an abudance of new cameras recently, but has focussed on expensive advanced cameras in a bid to move away from intense price competition at the low end of the market. But, with their new Wi-Fi compacts, it looks like Nikon has made a confident reappearance.
