Social Me, which allows users to discover what their friends think of them, was listed in the top 25 applications, with 280,000 active users.
Facebook said they would remain banned while it continued to investigate, but would not disclose what privacy violations it had uncovered.
"The 'Social Me' application has been temporarily suspended by Facebook due to violations of Facebook's privacy policies," it says in a note on the Social Me page. "Social Me will be re-enabled after it has been updated and verified to fully protect user privacy."
Social Me's developer, SocialHi.com, was not available for comment.
Last week Facebook banned another app, Top Friends, after a hacker exploited a logic error in the application that allowed users to see some limited Facebook information about a friend of a Top Friend. The developer has since fixed the vulnerability.
