Greatest Hits of MWC 2013
With the world’s largest mobile technology show about to take place in the sunny environs of Barcelona. it’s time to kick off something new for our coverage of the show this year: PC Pro’s Greatest Hits of MWC 2013. It’s our pick of the best products and technologies on show at the event. Nine products will walk away with a Greatest Hits award, and as ever we’re looking for our readers’ help in picking the winners.
If you see a product you think deserves to be considered, then make a comment on this blog by midnight Tuesday 5 February (UK time). In addition to five products earning the Greatest Hits accolade, we’reĀ giving away four awards in the following specific categories:
Best Android phone
With Huawei, Asus, Sony and LG all unveiling new smartphones at the show, it’s going to be a hotbed of Android phone action this year. We’ll get our first glimpse of LG’s QSlide, a technology that allows the use of two apps simultaneously, and also Samsung’s just announced Galaxy Note 8.0 – the biggest smartphone yet.
Best Windows Phone
Since the launch of Windows Phone 8 last year, Microsoft-based handsets have been steadily gathering momentum. We’ll be reporting from the Nokia press conference on Monday 25 February, where it’s expected the mobile phone giant will announce its next generation of Windows handsets.
Best Android tablet
Samsung hasn’t scheduled a big launch event for MWC this year, but it will be showing off two or more tablets at the show, including the Galaxy Tab 3. With Asus also making a big announcement, there should be plenty for Android tablet fans to get their teeth into.
Best Windows Tablet
The arrival of Windows 8 has provoked an avalanche of tablets and hybrid devices, and MWC is sure to see more appear. Rumblings abound that Nokia will choose MWC to launch its a Windows-based tablet in its press conference on Monday morning, although that’s far from certain yet.
Greatest hits
There are always great new technologies at MWC, and this year should prove as exciting as ever. Keep an eye on Chinese budget smartphone manufacturer, ZTE, who it’s widely rumoured will be releasing the first ever phone based on Mozilla’s Firefox OS. Intel, meanwhile, looks set to release its new, dual-core mobile phone CPU, the successor to the single-core 2GHz Medfield processor found in the Motorola Razr i.

Did you mean by Tuesday 5th March ??
I’d nominate HTC One as te Android Phone of the show. For its highest order specifications, stylish design, for decent speakers, and for daring to move the bundled software and camera experience out of the rut of the other phones, and into a brave new direction.
For Android tablet I’d nominate the Sony Experia Tablet Z. It’s just so stylish as well as exhibiting the same top-end specs all tablets now have.
