Panasonic 20in 4K tablet review: first look and video

Panasonic 4K Windows 8 tabletIt takes something a little special to make us go wow as we wander the halls of CES, but this product is it. Not that it’s even formally a product: Panasonic’s 20in 4K tablet is still a prototype and may never see the light of commercial day.

The question everyone surely must ask on seeing it: who is going to buy this thing? You might also want to know how much it’s going to cost, but Panasonic is remaining tight-lipped on that score.

Intriguingly, Panasonic offered three potential types of usage: marketing tools, architecture and design, and photography. While the former seems a little hazy, we can certainly see a market for photography: take a look at the video below if you’re unconvinced.

The inclusion of an Anoto live pen adds an extra dimension that lends it more obvious appeal to architects – for example, they can create and edit blueprints, or make annotations using pen markers.

Panasonic is keen to point out that it’s built on Windows 8 as well, so you could even theoretically use this as your main PC. At the price we suspect it will sell for, though, we recommend keeping your kids away.
