I agree, I wouldn't buy a laptop if it had less that 1000 vertical pixels. My Galaxy Nexus almost has as many pixels as this. What is going on in PC land - Apple are push display resolution, how is the Ultrabook specification not supporting a similar push. I guess Intel don't build screens so don't care.

This is a question not a comment. I want to buy this for my travelling daughter, who uses Adobe Photoshop professionally ... presumably if she connects the laptop to her high-quality monitor, she will get appropriately high definition resolution on the monitor: so the resolution on her little screen won't matter, because she would not use it for professional grahics anyway. Yes/No?

I was considering it to replace laptops in 60+ classrooms but the lower resolution kills that idea. Still looking for a better option.

Messed up the sale by throwing in low resolution screen. I was going to order one until I saw the poor screen resolution that they threw in. They could have at least allowed people to upgrade to a higher screen resolution by paying more if they wanted a higher screen resolution. No option=loss of sale for me!

If Apples Ipad has the Retina Display, then this presumably is HP's answer.....the cataract display! :-)

Absolutely agreeing with everyone else so far.

I'm simply not interested in anything with less than 1000 pixels vertically.

+2. With smartphones now sporting 700 pixels across their shortest dimension, 1,000px could be said to be a more than reasonable minimum for a laptop.

+1
I stopped reading as soon as I read "Resolution has taken a step down, from 1,600 x 900 to 1,366 x 768"

Spot on John. Yet another case of style over substance.
I seem to have a choice of only Sony or Dell for my next laptop.
