What else do you want from the error message?
It’s not just telling you it can’t connect or giving some random error number advising it cannot continue, it states that “you are not connected to the internet” which is more than adequate as far as I’m concerned.
And add in the fact you’re using a beta version of Win7 or an unofficial copy of the RC, surely you can;t read too much into it until the RTM version is released.

So I take it that the obvious-to-most irony that its telling you to go to the web for assistance in getting to the web is totally lost?
I don’t think that was a slamming indictment on MS, and more like a light-hearted poke… Unless you have knowledge that certain MS programmers are on the forum looking for bug fixes on the pc pro website?
Dang, I’m no longer laughing.

It isn’t exactly “Cannot kind keyboard: please press F1 to continue…” is it?

Reminds of the BT Broadband “Service Update” line. It says that if you have trouble connecting to your Broadband you can find further assistance at…http://www.bt.com/broadband/help
Go figure

I’m guessing that you are complaining about the suggestion that you go to the web for help about the fact that you aren’t connected to the Internet?
If the problem is that you are actually connected to the Internet that’s more worrying.

Indeed, it was the suggestion that you venture online for help about a broken internet connection that I found a tad ironic.

Hi, I used to get a similar message with WMP on XP. I fixed it by going to options – Player, then tick conect to internet (Overrides all other commands). This fixed the issue. It may not be the same for MS’s new flagship OS, but hey they are not Apple, who seem on the whole to produce a much better OS. Good luck. I for one am looking forward to the RTM version.

I was once with a small ISP who proudly announced that they would send an e-mail out to all users whenever there was an outage or if the e-mail server was down.
You couldn’t make it up.

You never put a comma before “and” for starters…

Why does Windows Media Player need to connect to the internet in the first place.
With France and their 3 strikes law on P2P a lot of people soon aren’t going to be able to use WMP.
