Windows SideShow is there in the RC its just hidden unless you have a SideShow device installed. You can get it to ‘appear’ if you instal the free SideShow simulator.
Personaly I like SideShow, it certinly needs more work but the idea makes sense!

I confirm that the icon of Widows Sideshow it’s hidden until you install a device compatible with Sidehsow. That’s because the sideshow it’s useless without a device that can run the sideshow gadgets
So, it’s not removed.

The PC Magazine hands on review (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2345970,00.asp) says it is installed (the Control Panel applet) only when a compatible device is detected.

We’ve got a Dell XPS 420 with the SideShow thingy (didn’t even know it came with it when we ordered the machine) and I have to say it’s completely and utterly pointless. Apart from the fact that it lights up when the machine is turned on, so at least we know it’s powering up (the machine sits on the floor under a desk, and the front panel is difficult to see.)
We’ve never bothered to set it up properly…I mean, honestly, who’s ever going to play Solitaire on the thing by tapping away at the tiny buttons either side of the panel?
And it doesn’t make what is already a pig ugly Dell machine any more attractive either.
