The Mac version is poor compared to the Windows version. I have found alternatives to all the software in Office except Word and Excel. Let's be honest, those are very good products! On the Mac the Pages and Numbers software are ok compared to the OpenOffice versions, but lack the real tools for writing complex documents and doing really complex sheets. And please do not send me off to LaTex. I have used it and still use it, but it is ghastly to sit and do a bloody complete design every time you want to develop new course notes, etc. On the MacBook Pro: I know this is a PC site, etc. , but I read the newest version of PC Pro that found that the machine is great, except that it is expensive and does not run Vista well. Without mature drivers, it would not and it was not intended to run Vista, Tim, Sasha and David! Before I am called an Apple fanatic, let me assure you that I use PCs of all sorts running Linux (two versions), OSX, XP, NT(!) and Vista and I have never been more delighted with the use I get out of a machine than with this laptop! I run 3 OSs on this machine wih no problem thanks to VMWare. My previous laptop was a Dell Latitude and it is still working, but the service in South Africa sucks, parts take ages to be delivered and the machine is rather mediocre for the price I paid (it was the case then and is still the case today). There are massive numbers of people doing the things office does, without office, using anything from openoffice to microsoft's very own Works.
