USB Fudge Drive

It’s good to know my Christmas present troubles have been solved. I just need to buy all my loved ones a USB stick. One that smells of chocolate.

The days of PRs phoning the PC Pro office, coughing in embarrassed fashion and then proudly proclaming their client has just released a new USB flash drive are thankfully over. It was always an embarrassing encounter on both sides – the PRs knew it wasn’t interesting, and we knew they knew it wasn’t interesting.

But I’d actually quite like to receive the call from the person whose job for the day is to tell me I absolutely must buy a flash drive that smells.

Apparently they do ones that whiff of strawberry, apple, and orange & lemon too.

Dear lord where will it all end.

I work in the fragrance industry, and recall a spoof article in the trade magazine of a smell addon to Microsoft (v3.1 I recall, which dates this somewhat!) The idea being that it would smell of fresh coffee on startup, smell of gin & tonic when you shut down at the end of the day, and wafted smells of sea breezes in the afternoon to keep everyone awake. File extensions were to be .NIF files…..wonder what this little beastie does. probably just some fragrance blended in with the plastic shell, they have been doing it to airfresheners and toothbruishes for years!

I’m hoping they release one that smells of donuts. Mmmmm…..donunts

Or, for something entirely novel, maybe plastic scented ones :?
